The ...Not to Monterey (well, not in a long time). <br /><br />The only blue whale I've seen was off the Stellwagen Banks, east of Massachusetts. It probably had come down from the group that's permanently around the St. Lawrence Seaway in search of food.<br /><br />And they are, indeed, as big as their descriptions. The boat I was on was a converted 90-foot trawler, and the blue was as long or slightly longer than the boat. Went right by about ten feet away and fifteen feet underwater in the opposite direction.
