You said it, Res. Plus, I will literally be in the street with a pitchfork and a sign. I'm an old boomer who has ALWAYS taken my voting rights & responsibilities seriously, and 99.999% of the time I've voted with the Dems. If they *touch* benefits or push back retirement age they will have driven a nail through what they stood for as a party. Raise the goddamn cap! What's the problem with that?

Yes! Raise the cap to unlimited (at least until SS is paid back the money it "loaned"); then make adjustments to reduce the burden from those on the low-end of the pay scale and - POOF! - instant tax cut for those that need it and money into the economy.
