diversified portfolio:
A subsidiary of General Electric has agreed to pay $2.7 million to resolve claims its employees made false statements to the U.S. Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission about a reactor component.
The Justice Department announced the settlement Thursday with General Electric Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, a provider of nuclear energy products and services based in Wilmington, N.C.
Of course, GE, unlike Hitachi, doesn't make vibrators...but they do employ Joe Scarborough.

ReplyDeleteHitachi got everything it wanted. $2.7 million is chump change, and they don't have to admit they lied, which means the NRC won't be to embarrassed to rubber stamp the latest version of the Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor design, which surely won't shake itself to death like the Excelon Quad Cities reactors. This time for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd since the settlement was made without requiring an admission of wrongdoing, LeRay Dandy, the former GE Hitachi employee who gave up his career to be the whistleblower on this mess, gets NOTHING.
