Letterman's "Apology"

And by the way, don't the Palins know how old their daughter really is?  I didn't love the jokes, but yeah I did laugh.  The Palins' response is troubling because SHE IS NOT 14, which bothered me.  Where do we draw the line?  Should Dave wait until she is in her 20s?  It was the Palins who dragged her into the spotlight after all. Was it her age that pissed people off or really that people thought it was all offensive.  The audience laughed and I have heard jokes bomb from time to time on Letterman and this didn't seem to be one of them.  Letterman did a good job of clarifying himself here.  And the way he did it was great.
