Channelling Marie Antoinette

From KOS.

An campaign worker in the Bush Administration gave the modern version of the famous "let 'em eat cake" today. Unbelievable.

A campaign worker for President Bush said on Thursday American workers unhappy with low-quality jobs should find new ones -- or pop a Prozac to make themselves feel better.

"Why don't they get new jobs if they're unhappy -- or go on Prozac?" said Susan Sheybani, an assistant to Bush campaign spokesman Terry Holt.

The comment was apparently directed to a colleague who was transferring a phone call from a reporter asking about job quality, and who overheard the remark.

When told the Prozac comment had been overheard, Sheybani said: "Oh, I was just kidding."

Though Bush seems incredibly unable to fire anyone directly, it seems hard to believe that Ms. Sheybani will not soon be joining the ranks of the unemployed herself. But at least she can then put her remedies to the test.

Of course, Ms. Sheybani's advice would be quite sound for the country as a whole after three and a half years of Commander Codpiece. Unfortunately, she does not understand that among the 38 million people or so without health insurance, the unemployed make up a sizeable percentage.

Idiot.
