"That's different"

For those who somehow hold out hope that Clarence Thomas is going to have his eyes opened to the fact that more than just someone close to could have their rights violated in the most offensive ways...

Have you actually ever made even a casual study of the guy?

There is NO FUCKING CHANCE he'll extrapolate anything out of this that doesn't reaffirm his world view. In fact, I'm sure his wife will use it as a means of raising more money for her teabaggery.

mentally disturbed people can be very hard to handle, but could he have gotten a tranq? tasers should be banned.

If Anita Hill taught him nothing, this won't either.

But tasers are so 'high tech'

Agreed. At best, Thomas will figure out a way to view this as a personal attack on himself--thus relieving himself of having to think about the larger implications such police tactics have on society at large.

At worst, he'll just ignore that it happens to others and see it as an isolated error by police.

see if he'd like to try using a taser on himself, just to know how awful they feel. It might just kill the troglydyte.

not sure about the tasers but a (police friend of ours told us they have to "experience" pepper spray in the eyes as part of the training.

Our police friends had to have a mop handle rammed up their as as part of basic training.

I usually have pay for that.
