But Mike Huckabee demands it!?

Ah, the Republican Party -- no to evolution, no to global warming, no to actual voting illegalities in favor of non-existent ones, and of course, no to scientific polling.

What else have they suddenly become in favor of...oh yes, impeaching over foreign policy disasters on made up facts.
Extremists from groups linked to al Qaida struck the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in a “deliberate and organized terrorist attack,” the top U.S. intelligence agency said Friday, as it took responsibility for the Obama administration’s initial claims that the deadly assault grew from a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islam video.
The attack, was of course, terrible and there were shifting rationales -- but one could ask how it merits impeachment in comparison to how the Bush Administration handled post-9/11, or hell pre-9/11, or the entirety of the Iraq War.

The terrible trust is that there is a pretty good argument about the illegality of the use of drones by the Obama Administration -- except the GOP has no objections to that and would likely be worse.

In some purer form, impeachment was a remedy for corruption and, stretched a bit, outright incompetence.

Ever since the Clinton impeachment, however, it has been redefined as a one-sided partisan political tool. I expected the Repugs to use it on Obama before the election, as an attempt to destroy his chances, but, it looks as if the Repugs are angling for ways to use it later, to destroy Democrats' chances of winning again in 2016 (which worked well enough in 2000--Gore himself chose Lieberman the Scold as an ineffectual shield against the memory of Clinton's transgressions, and that certainly helped narrow the margin Gore might have otherwise expected).

The Repugs have successfully transformed impeachment into a weapon only they are permitted to wield. Such is the punishment inflicted on the Dems for not following through on the Nixon impeachment and for looking the other way at the gross illegalities of Ronnie Raygun and crew.

Not to mention the high crimes of the W administration. If you can't bring a president before the dock for dragging the country into a war on false pretenses, it's way too late to pretend you have the ability, even on your best day with a fistful of Pfizer's little blue pills.
