Amateur Hour

If its results were not so damaging to our nation in so many ways, the antics of the people who have inhabited the west wing would be funny. We'll all be dissecting the fired US Attorneys story in the days that follow, but for me one detail jumped out from the article published in today's Washington Post:

But the documents and interviews indicate that the idea for the firings originated at least two years ago, when then-White House counsel Harriet E. Miers suggested to Sampson in February 2005 that all prosecutors be dismissed and replaced.

If nothing else shows what a true lightweight Harriet Miers is, this has to be the one fact that proves beyond any doubt who and what it is we have running the country. Imagine the White House Counsel can float an idea like this and not get laughed at--mockingly. Honestly, it shows both Miers's stupidity and the depths that this administration might go to consolidate power. Responsible government and policy holds no sway with these people. For them it is about domination.

There won't be enough subpoenas and resignations to teach BushCo any lessons, but it is a start.
