Notorious Koran-burning freak Pastor Terry Jones is up in Dearborn today protesting the purported (i.e., non-existent) imposition of Sharia Law in the city. And he made a big to-do about bringing a pistol to the protest.
And now, alas, there's been a fatality: the floorboard of Jones' car.
Jones is apparently so handy with a firearm that he managed to accidentally discharge his weapon in his car.

I'd say too bad he wasn't pointing it at his head when it fired; but what's more likely and more frightening is he or some other nitwit will be pointing their weapon at an innocent bystander. Hell, I'm a little surprised that hasn't already happened, followed by the inevitable bellowing and insistance of good intensions, i.e., demanding an idiocy exemption...
The devil is everywhere, friends, even in your fuddling fingers.
shame it didn't hit his foot or crotch.

A shot to the head would be unlikely to cause any serious damage. Far better if he shot himself in the foot. That is guaranteed to cause some inconvenience (not to mention a mouth full of blood).
Every time there's even passing mention of the need for some additional controls on handguns, the NRA types come out of the woodwork, shrieking about how gun owners are all immensely competent, and it's all just a plot to deny them the right to defend themselves.
In actuality, there's a huge cadre of dumb bozos like Jones out there running around with loaded guns with the safeties off (that's the only way this could have happened, unless the gun is defective and rocket scientist Jones didn't bother to inspect it).
This only reinforces my opinion that the biggest problem with handguns are the crazy fuckers owning them.
I was at, get this, an American Public Health Association convention in Indianapolis when a local yokel in the Planet Hollywood dropped his cigarettes, bent over to pick them up, and his pistol fell out of his shirt pocket no less, discharged, and the bullet went through one woman's wrist and struck another in the hip.
The local chief of police told a TV reporter the next day there would be no charges, because he had a permit for the gun.
Indiana, land of Quayle.
How does this idiot get a permit to appear anywhere? I thought there were laws against incite to riot. Burning a Koran or Bible.
What anon said!
Cervantes, are you kidding me? no charges for shooting 2 people because he had a "permit"??? what about reckless endangerment? assault with a deadly weapon?
sounds like a HUGE civil suit against the jackass with the gun AND the local PD / prosecutors' office is in order...
Yeah, you're right, DrDick. Hey, at least I didn't say pointing it at his brain...because he doesn't have one.
And Jesus will save him from his own willful incompetence.
Ain't cretinanity great?
