How dare they!

Giving your employees Thanksgiving off? Why it's Un'murikan.
“Our employees work especially hard during the holiday season, and we simply believe that they deserve the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their families,” Paul Latham, the company’s vice president for membership and marketing, wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. “Nothing more complicated than that.”
Republicans in Congress are going to start demanding Costco be forced to celebrate Thanksgiving in October, like those commie-Canadians.

Yeah- those pink socialist also dare to continue to pay their employees a living wage. How dare they treat their people like humans. It simply isn't done.

Isn't is weird? I don't remember when we were all asked about whether we wanted to be like the most hard-bitten, demon-driven Type A personalities. Everyone is now expected to work ourselves to near death during the course of our careers for a pittance of a salary before stumbling exhausted into a financially insecure retirement whose major redeeming feature is that it's so blissfully short, waiting to see what kind of cancer we're going to get.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the Wealth created by our Labor sit in the back of the carriage complaining about the quality of the ride. I'm pretty sure that if anyone had asked me, I wouldn't have agreed to this.

The big-game hunters on Wall Street have been stalking Costco for years, hoping to force a management change by complaining about the stock price. This will be just more ammunition for the hunt, even though it affirms the practices that have made Costco reputable and profitable (just not profitable enough to satisfy the big-game hunters).

Because treating employees like crap and paying them crap isn't all economics, it's an ideology for these thugs.

And there are millions of stupid sheep in this country who take pride in their poorer working conditions, crappier pay and less vacation and benefits than Europeans. Because Freedom. Decades ago you could at least say Americans got a substantially higher standard of living for their harder work, but that isn't the case now.
