As many as 10,000 people are believed dead in one Philippine city alone after one of the worst storms ever recorded unleashed ferocious winds and giant waves that washed away homes and schools. Corpses hung from tree branches and were scattered along sidewalks and among flattened buildings, while looters raided grocery stores and gas stations in search of food, fuel and water.In...one...city...alone. The Frightening Shape of things to come
There have been hurricanes throughout recorded history, but their scale seems to be getting greater...better not do something about it.
Meanwhile the size of the recent disaster in the Philippines is truly staggering.

I’ve never had occasion to regret a donation to Doctors Without Borders. Some other disaster relief charities, not so much.
Either way, time to belly up to the bar, choose yer pizen and show what you’re made of. They need help now.

Ditto what Stony says. I'm a regular donor to their cause and have seen them firsthand in the field. It's a solid organization.
