Reason #327

Reason why the Republicans cannot win the presidency that is... (please note that I typed 'win' - this does not include tricks, use of created "grassroots" groups for the purpose of attack politics, lies, and the popular right-wing thuggery of outright stealing of an election by any means available to them).

The reason:  Gas prices hit over $4 throughout the country.  And, could be around $5 (or maybe even higher) on election day!

Rural U.S. Takes Worst Hit as Gas Tops $4 Average
Across the South, Southwest and the upper Great Plains, low incomes and heavy dependence on pickup trucks and vans is putting an even tighter squeeze on family budgets.

I wonder how they will make this the fault of the Democrats, the rural folk, Democrats in Congress (expect that one) and of course Joseph Wilson... Or they could go with their big "trump" card, it is all the fault of Bill Clinton (always plays well with the nutwing faithful).  Although should Cheney pop out another "so" about the plight of the American people.  Such caustic comments will lead to huge electoral losses in November.  Because remember, the average voter has a tendency to blame the party in power in the White House.

"I paid so much for gas to get to work I couldn't pay my payments anymore." - CLEVELAND WHITESIDE, a farm worker whose car was repossessed because gasoline prices have broken his budget.

Yes, that high gas prices is someone else's fault is going to become a hard sell indeed with a failed oil man in the White House and his cronies running the executive branch like it is their own private company.
