Don't worry, Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch will take your real dollars

As opposed to your Confederate dollars:

The History Channel has re portedly refused to air a series of ads that claim the South had a legitimate right to secede from the Union 150 years ago.

The ads were produced and funded by the Georgia Sons of Confederate Veterans, and were intended to give the Southern point of view on the bloodiest war in American history -- but the cable channel contends the ads are "well beyond our guidelines."

The sesquicentennial of the Civil War is next year and apparently feelings still run deep in places around the country.

One line from ads says the war was fought to "repel" an invasion by federal troops.

Another says the cause of the war was that "Northern congressmen were able to vote themselves virtually anything they wanted, using Southern tax money, while the South was powerless to stop it."

It's only getting crazier.

Can you imagine what position an Antebellum FoxNews would have taken on these issues?

Steve Doocy: Reports this morning, Abraham Lincoln, shook hands with negro man and made eye contact with negro woman...THIS...IS...HUGE!

While I'm glad the History Channel refused these lunatic and bigoted revisionists, it has aired some weird programming, always accompanied by the breathless "we-may-ever-know-the-truth" commentary.

Big on ancient aliens, UFOs, Freemasonry and political conspiracies.

if only more channels had this policy.

when do we teach the history of how we paid off WW2?

What say instead of waiting for Arizona to secede, the U.S. just takes it over before it decides to and nips the new Confederacy in the bud?
Then Georgia, Kansas, Limbaugh and Hannity and all these other states, and states of mind, that consider the Federal Govt intrusive might just reconsider their treasonous bombast.
If Premptive Military action was OK under w, it surely is justified now

I'd rather trust Iran or North Korea with nukes than the CSA. And once they secede, there's no way to keep 'em out of their hands.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. The Confederate Party can fork itself.

"Fulfilling Nostradamus's prediction..."

It's the History Channel - umm excuse me History (proper font here). They got standuds.

I am very glad we stopped slavery (although sometimes I kinda wish the south _would_ secede now...) Even if they had been a foreign country, in all likelihood we eventually would have had to go down there and kick their ass to kill slavery.

Still, it's never been clear to me
what, other than the test of battle, decided the 'right' of a portion of a nation to declare independence, viewed objectively.

After all, the 'revolutionary' war wasn't really a revolution - it was a war of independence.

I've always wanted to hear a real discussion of the issue, and haven't so far....
