Bad Winners

A sign of a good person, is a good sport. You tried your best, you came up short (probably) but you handle it with grace. A sign of a bad person is a saying how great you are win you win. A bad winner takes their victory and repeatedly rubs the defeated's nose in it. It is a reflection of a person without class.

In between the sniveling drivel of this Milbank article some facts actually appear.

Exhibit A: The Classless Winners

Kerry's seat assignment was in the seventh row. And every time they flashed his picture on the Jumbotron, the crowd -- full of wealthy Republicans -- jeered.

...

The inaugural committee skipped the likes of "America the Beautiful" for Utah Sen. Orrin G. Hatch's ditty, "Heal Our Land," and outgoing attorney general John D. Ashcroft's schmaltzy "Let the Eagle Soar" ("This country's far too young to die/Though she's cried a bit for what we've put her through").

Exhibit B: Being Graceful

When the former candidate emerged on the West Front of the Capitol yesterday morning and his smiling image was broadcast, the crowd booed and groaned. One man could be heard to call out, "Loser!" Kerry took his seat alongside an old friend, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), and quickly got to the task at hand: projecting both equanimity and magnanimity.
