GOP in Kentucky: Above the Law?

Let's see... (picture swirling image) imagine running for state senate and getting elected but you were not eligible because you had not established residency in your state. Then the powerful senate president decides to seat you even though a court declared that you could not be seated. This is the story of Dana Seum Stephenson, republican -- big surprise -- in Kentucky. And why would the powerful senate president, one David Williams also a republican, attempt to ignore a court order? Because he wants a super-majority so that he can steamroll legislation through the state legislature.

I just can't imagine that a republican would want to break rules to their advantage.

In fact, this situation has so enraged some in Frankfort, KY (the capital of Kentucky) that they are rebelling. State senator Bob Leeper (of Paducah, KY) has left the republican party and registered as an independent over the decision to illegally seat Stephenson. Wow, a republican with some actual real moral values, what a pleasant surprise.
