More Nostradumbass

Sully the Silly, lurches between right wing idiocy and irrelevant banality. While seeing that the Bush Administration's torture explanations are all smoke and two-way mirrors, he still lurches back and forth between defense of Bush, and trying to explain how he has been consistently snookered.

Unfortunately, while he veers on occasion away from the Ernest T. Bass, ESQ Temple of "Indeed" and "Hey", he still manages to maintain his ability to be consistently and, if possible, laughably wrong in short order.

Yesterday in regard to an issue dear at heart to him:

The FMA has gone unmentioned by Bush since the election - and it appears more and more like a pre-election ploy rather than a principled stand. (Of course, that's a relief but it's also an indication of how bald-faced a political maneuver this was in the first place). But this piece of sanity from the President deserves praise and reciprocation from those of us who support equality in marriage. We should refrain from any constitutional or legal challenge to DOMA for the foreseeable future (something I've urged for a long time now). We should also refrain from any attempt to force any state to recognize a gay marriage from another state (of course that's different from a state voluntarily recognizing such marriages). We should practise moderation, just as the Senate is practising moderation.

Oh, but the next day:

The White House sought Sunday to reassure conservatives that President Bush would work hard on behalf of a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, backtracking from remarks Bush made in a published interview suggesting that he would not press the Senate to vote on the amendment this year.

Never underestimate the intentions of Bush's handlers Andy. Their mendaciousness is as unceasing as your refusal to apologize for calling the folks who were right about Iraq a "Fifth Column".

In summary, shorter Herr Andrew Sullivan, Berlin 1938:

"Just wear the triangle and don't make waves, I'm sure the Nazi's will be satisfied with simple embrassment."
