We can still be grateful for one thing, and that's that John McCain is not and never will be president.

Those Times articles on the Civil war are so good at pointing our "the past is not over, it hasn't even passed."(Faulkner) Confederacy had a major problem funding their part in the Civil War. No one wanted tax increases, much less by their central govt in Montgomery.
