At least 7 American Soldiers Dead in Iraq. Not that the Cable News outfits consider that a Big Story

It is becoming clear that "supporting the troops" means forgetting them. So far this morning.

A massive car bomb exploded on the outskirts of Fallujah on Monday, killing seven U.S. Marines and wounding several others, a U.S. military official said.

The strength of the blast sent the engine from the vehicle used in the bombing flying "a good distance" from the site, a military official said on condition of anonymity.

Wounded troops were being treated Monday afternoon, the official said.

U.S. forces have not patrolled inside Fallujah since April, when U.S. Marines ended a three-week siege. The city has since fallen into the hands of insurgents who have used it as a base to manufacture car bombs and launch attacks on U.S. and Iraqi government forces.

I watched CNN, MSNBC, and even some amount of FoxNews this morning. Only CNN had a hint of an ambush near Fallujah that killed at least a half-dozen American Soldiers, apparently marines.

But that is bad news, and reflects just how bad Iraq is. It underscores that more than two months after we established a so-called sovereign government, it is so thinly veneered that even Potempkin would be embarrassed. But Potempkin was as honest as the day is long compared to our nation's broadcast media.

On FoxNews, the lobotomy morning crew even talked about how the cleanup after Frances was great news for the economy of the State because of all the jobs it will create. I kid you not.
