Independent Bands care about their Fans

File this under, lets see the "Big" bands do this.

I received an email from someone about a benefit concert in Charlotte, North Carolina this coming Saturday (September 18) and while I do not normally promote these things, this is something I have not heard of before.

Independent musicians and bands The Connells, George Huntley, and Street Green are playing a memorial show at the Visulite Theatre for a fan who passed away unexpectedly of diabetic complications.

Apparently the fan had been to over 120 shows by The Connells, take that Phish and Grateful Dead fans! Clearly there are some musicians who care about more than their bottom line or looking too cool for school (ahem, paging the Strokes).

We here at the 'Hegemon take our hats off to these bands and we wish them a successful event.
