The Negroponte Effect...

DeDurkheim, in a different post below talked about how many on the right are trying to take us back to the Dark Ages.

Well, to continue somewhat on that theme, welcome to the latest DARK turn into the realm know by various terms, but which I prefer to call CHIMPTOPIA.

When John Negroponte was appointed Grand High Vizeer of Eye-Rack you figured this would be coming...it is his idiom, death squads.

Now, NEWSWEEK has learned, the Pentagon is intensively debating an option that dates back to a still-secret strategy in the Reagan administration’s battle against the leftist guerrilla insurgency in El Salvador in the early 1980s. Then, faced with a losing war against Salvadoran rebels, the U.S. government funded or supported "nationalist" forces that allegedly included so-called death squads directed to hunt down and kill rebel leaders and sympathizers. Eventually the insurgency was quelled, and many U.S. conservatives consider the policy to have been a success—despite the deaths of innocent civilians and the subsequent Iran-Contra arms-for-hostages scandal. (Among the current administration officials who dealt with Central America back then is John Negroponte, who is today the U.S. ambassador to Iraq. Under Reagan, he was ambassador to Honduras.)

This idea is INSANE, not only because it is, at its little black heart, evil, but because it would not work. Period.

First, of all, how are you going to scare folks who have lived with one form of fear everyday of their lives and who take out acts in great fear. Think enough people heads being sawed off have been shown on the internet...their will be a lot more of that.

Second, I cannot imagine the region's Sunnis (the majority) sitting by for this, want uproar in Syria and Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey? Do this.

Speaking of the turks, I'm sure they will be positively delighted with the prospect of U.S. trained and inspired Kurdish Death Squads (sarcasm).
