For the second time in the last several months, the Washington Post addresses the rather dubious question, "What would George Washington do about Iraq?"
And historian Brian O'Malley finds he would essentially say, "You fucked it up in every possible fashion, it's time to go."
That is almost certainly the case.
But first, the obvious answer.
There is now way George Washington would advocate invading Iraq, in fact, "Mr. First in War" would puke himself to death over about 3/4ths of American foreign policy the last sixty years.
It's not that Washington did not envision a future, powerful, America, but the concept of a giant, permanent military structure was the scariest goddamn thing in the world.
Might be nice if somebody points that out once in a while.
