Here's a theme I am heartily tired of

And I've been hearing it now for about a quarter century:

"Oh, just wait until you find out what the Republicans will do to "X" if they are nominated."

Krugman's column is full of that today, it's a familiar refrain about Obama. And if the shoe were on the other foot, we would hear the same thing about Clinton, only it would be refried.

And I'm heartily sick of this form of self-perpetuated fear of the mighty wurlitzer.

To paraphrase General Grant:

"Oh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is Republicans are going to do. Some of you always seem to think he is they are suddenly going to turn a double somersault, and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time. Go back to your command, and try to think what are we going to do ourselves, instead of what Lee the GOP is going to do."
