What strikes me about these clips are not so much the interviewees' views and statements about sex, dating, and rape, but their too-cool-for-school attitude. At twenty-nine, these women seem a little long in the tooth to be so terribly blasé not just about subjects that deserve to be taken seriously (and no, taking sex seriously is not the same thing as being a prude), but about, well, everything. They remind me of junior high kids who will stampede disabled infants to shout to anyone who will listen that they couldn't be bothered to study for the exam, or put on clean clothes for mass, or give their parents the time of day. I'm all for a little snark, but I watch them and feel relief that I'm not and never have been that jaded.
In any case, on July 14th, the "Thinking and Drinking" segment of Shoot the Messenger will happily go from the ridiculous to the sublime, as Amy Goodman will be in the house.
(And yes, full disclosure: Lizz is an acquaintance.)
