Moral Paragons

Well, lookie hear we have yet another middle aged white Republican, male naturally, Roy Blunt, telling us his bill to let employers say what medical coverage their "religion" allows them to pay for is not about lady parts.
Our bill protects health care providers and insurers from being forced to violate their principles to provide products and services under the new health care law, and it ensures that all Americans are protected against discrimination, penalty or exclusion from the health care market for exercising their rights of conscience and following religious beliefs.
Of course if you are a woman, it means you are discriminated against. I guess excluding just over half the population is the kind of discrimination that doesn't matter so much.
It should be noted as well, that Blunt starts out his statement with this:
This weekend, millions of church-going Catholics in St. Louis and across America will hear or read a letter from their bishop making clear that the Obama Administration's Feb. 10 announcement does nothing to change the serious threat to religious liberty created by new government mandates in health care.
Oh those Catholic Bishops, such a fine record and so much understanding of the whole sex thing. Take for example one of their long-time leaders -- a real critic of contraception throughout his career.
Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua ordered aides to shred a 1994 memo that identified 35 Archdiocese of Philadelphia priests suspected of sexually abusing children, according to a new court filing.
I believe there's a place I'd politely tell these folks to place their consciences. Fortunately, it will not require a contraceptive...a suppository on the other hand.

Their consciences have already been placed in that part of another person's anatomy.
