As far as the writer wanting definitive reassurance that the woman had an orgasm during heterosexual intercourse, that was very heterosexual male of her, wasn't it?
The writer likes that the novel made it clear that Anastasia had her O's. But that's a matter of the advantage of writing: you can include inner dialogue and experiences in ways that film cannot, or at least is wise to avoid. For example, the director could have taken internal dialogue and vocalized it. But that would have required Anastasia to tell Christian "I climaxed and splintered into a million pieces underneath you a minute ago."
