Bobonalysis

We've already seen the new freetacular spin on Watergate go down to intellectual defeat (the Noonanesque, "Mark Felt kept Nixon from being able to completely bomb Cambodia to death so as to save it from Pol Pot"), So David Brooks decides to turn it into some sort of cloying Horatio Alger story about how Bob Woodward was "needy".

I also think that Bobo is actually taking note that he is a "touchstone" for some bloggers and needs to pitch a small fit:

Entering the world of the Higher Shamelessness, they begin networking like mad, cultivating the fine art of false modesty and calculated friendships. The most nakedly ambitious - the blogging Junior Lippmanns - rarely win in the long run, but that doesn't mean you can't mass e-mail your essays for obscure online sites with little "Thought you might be interested" notes.

Poor, poor Bobo, angry that some people do for free, better than what he is paid six-figures to perform.
