Federal Sentencing Guidelines and Scooter

We are missing a real opportunity with this whole Scooter mess. Apparently this is another example of how our diversity of interests out here on the left side of the blogosphere holds us back. The right wing spin machine has been very successful at spinning the "no underlying crime" meme--which has been proven to be an absolute sham. The problem isn't that Scooter didn't do anything wrong, he obviously did, and he will pay for it. Bet when we get gifts like this we really have to expose the hypocrisy of the right wing who want every nickel bag pot possessor to do hard time. Maybe Scooter should get more time, I don't know, but there are a lot of people just like Scooter going to prison for non-violent crimes for whom this system just isn't working. So for those that can't help making a federal case out of very small things, this may be an opportunity to exploit, if not show their hypocrisy. I wonder if Scooter couldn't be the poster child for what's wrong with the system?
