Tonight on her show, Rachel Maddow had conservative writer David Frum as a guest who took the opportunity to tell Rachel, in essence, that she is as bad as McCain and his surrogates by lowering the political discourse in her use of humor and sarcasm to make points. To her credit Maddow gave Frum full swing, unlike her counterparts on Fox news, and actually debated Frum extemporaneously as she conceded she wasn't anticipating him raising the issue.
Like rats off a sinking ship it is easy for thoughtful conservatives like Frum to be critical of our political discourse now as they watch their party burn. This is what is left after 8 years of their sham investigations and bogus news during the Clinton years and 8 more years of using the press as an apparatus of the government to gin up fear and war and intimidating spineless Democrats. Well it isn't pretty, but good for Rachel standing her ground and handling the criticism without a bit of defensiveness. She has nothing to be ashamed of for using sarcasm to make a point if for no other reason than she isn't a bully and has enough guts to invite guests like Frum and gives them an opportunity to make their pitch without cutting them off.
Where was Frum before it was so painful to be a Republican?
