Whatever

Marc Ambinder seems to think that McCain calling Obama a "decent family man" who "you do not have to be afraid of as President" is some sort of mash note to the press and it will help the Ol' Errateric.

Um, yeah.

I'm pretty sure the idea in any campaign, even one that hasn't been built on slander and fear isn't to call your opponent a decent family man who you do not have to be afraid of.

To those of us who called him out over this, it's way too little, way too late and it is sowing what you reap.

For those who chose to believe whatever claptrap they want so they don't have to vote for the black guy, it's McCain denying them their putsch.

I'd say having whipped this up, McCain loses on both sides for acting this way.

Poor Pat Buchanan was giving birth to kittens on TV yesterday, like he was watching a Munich Rally where Hitler stopped and said "that Einstein sure is a smart and decent fellow."

Of course, McCain will continue his slander campaign via TV, Radio and Web ads while Nanook is out there on the stump doing the same.

But I guess McCain will get to fool his press base that he doesn't really mean it. So he's a race-bating hypocrite, not a straight out racist.

Pardon me if I don't see the difference.
