Rising Hegemon
Yesterday a demented individual opened-fire at the Pentagon. Not because he was against any particular war/liberation of life project but because he was well ... a nut job.
Like many nut jobs he was not a moron, but rather y'know C-R-A-Z-Y!
Let us parse the elements that comprised his dimentia...
1. He was a 9/11 Truther
2. He was a libertarian
3. Hated the Government
4. He loved his marijuana -- too much apparently.
So left or right, who wins this grudge-match of demented grievances? This guy probably would have been in agreement in some things pushed by the Teabaggers or the Baader-Meinhof Gang, though there's no evidence he had association with either group. Just because some elements of his dementia fall within the parameters of other deluded souls doesn't make him a fellow-traveler -- just a crazy one.
How about we call it a draw because sometimes -- often times -- a nut is just a nut.
But I guarantee there's going to be a need to classify this guy as left-wing or right-wing (Mr. Airplane into IRS building got made into right-wing nut 2 out of 3 falls in large part because right-wing assholes like Steve King happily adopted him, but at heart he was just plain nuts).

I believe it is a sad commentary on the absolute chasm separating us today the need to classify a murderer as indicative as one side or the other.
However, when patterns emerge it is foolish to ignore them.
And the constant invective, the call to violence, the insinuations that the Democrats are communists, terrorists, grandma killers has had an effect.
Therefore, I think it is time rational progressive bloggers start sounding the alarm about these anti-Government nuts who are doing the work of the Conservative Terrorists.
Because that is what this is, Terrorism: the use of violence to effect political change, and that is what the Conservatives want. Enough violence to cause a destabilization in the Government and win them elections.
