News is presented between 2:03 and 2:09 p.m. Eastern

Today, the Washington Post -- apparently because there were no members of the Kagan family available -- has a Op-Ed from Howell Raines castigating journalists for not calling FoxNews what it is, a right-wing propaganda operation 23:54/7.

This will not set well with alleged media critic Howard Kurtz as it will take away from his Tiger Woods/Eric Massa-related twitter time.

...some say a distinction must be made between Fox's opinion shows (O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity) and its news programming. Just as you have to make a distinction between The Post's news pages and its left-leaning editorial page.

Well, I say this Mr. or Ms. "Some" is a real asshole, which must be why Kurtz respects their opinion.

A distinction between the opinion shows as O'Reilly, Beck, and Hannity and the news programming?

Which is what?

Fox & Friends, where every morning is three hours of agenda setting on right-wing talking points? Where it is a legitimate for interviewees to appear as pimps for faked news stories (no correction for that yet, right?).

Or perhaps it's just the rest of the "fair" and "balanced" "news" programming, like Megyn Kelly's finding a broad swath of the public constituted by four white people at a retirement community?

Was Raines the editor when Jeff Gerth was shaking his ass over at the NYT?

If so, he's not exactly qualified to opine on the state of the news.

All of that said, Fox can blow me.

I can't wait to hear Fox 'n Friends gush over Rove's statement that he is "proud of waterboarding".

just another reminder of how the previous Adminstration was filled with a collection of the most odious individuals imaginable.

NPR propagated the notion that O'Keefe was posing as a pimp yesterday, the twits. They are so good at giving excuses not to send them money.

The Post has a left leaning editorial page? Shoot, you learn something new every day. Who's gonna tell Will and Krauthammer?

As of 6am today (Monday 15Mar), there are 4745 comments on that WaPo op-ed. Wouldn't surprise me if that was a record for them, or at least in the top five.

I only went through a few screens of the earliest of them. A few good comments there - some in agreement with Raines, some calling him out on his (NYT) hypocrisy, some doing both - but it seems to have really brought the wingnuts out of the woodwork.

The wingers sure are invested in that liberal media meme. Unfortunately I have found that as well in my own family, who are generally disengaged from politics and land at different points along the Scale of Wingnuttery, but who have clearly absorbed this BS just the same. Meh.
