And then just a week ago it was another Murdoch paper, as the Sun was implicated.
And now, it is yet another Murdoch publication, the Times of London, Rupert's most prestigious British publication.
On Thursday, Mr Watson, a member of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, said on Twitter: "The Met police have confirmed to me they are investigating [Rupert Murdoch's] newspaper The Times over email hacking."Rupert has repeatedly said no such hacking of phone calls or email has happened in the United States. But then he has always been so honest and forthright.
On 26 January [2007] Clive Goodman, the News of the World's former royal editor, and private investigator Glenn Mulcaire are jailed for illegally accessing the royal phone messages. ... In March, Les Hinton, a senior aide to Rupert Murdoch, tells a Commons committee that a "rigorous internal investigation" found no evidence of widespread hacking at the paper.[cross-posted at Firedoglake]

We know that's not true because one of his celebrity victims -- Jude Law, I think -- said his phone was attacked when he was in New York City. Think I read that over at the BBC, I'd have to Google it again.
And Murdoch's couponing division has already been found guilty of corrupt practices, lying about its circulation numbers. I think NewsCorp is under investigation right now and it's just a matter of time before it explodes here. Of course, the wingnuts will say it's a witch hunt and all that.
Yet another reason why we need to keep PBO in the White House, so these DOJ investigations don't go away.
Something is happening here. This story will not go away. A small lining of silver in what are truly disheartening times.
"Rome wasn't burned in a day."
Rupert Murdoch is a big fucking liar about his activities in the UK. Therefore it stands to reason that Rupert Murdoch is a big fucking liar about his activities in the US.
Trouble is, the US authorities won't do a damn thing, since they strenuously avoid prosecuting the rich and powerful unless absolutely forced to by the press.
And the press strenuously avoids embarrassing rich the rich and powerful.
Therefore, this is probably destined to be one of those scandals-that-should-have happened-but-never-did, like so many others:
-Nixon-Kissinger not paying North Vietnam secret war reparations, resulting in US POW/MIA's being held hostage forever
-Iran-Contra
-Valerie Plame
-Bush wears electronic device during Kerry debate
-Diebold voting machine fraud
-16 trillion dollar bankers' bailout by US Fed
keep digging, i bet it can be connected to the theft of 2004.
