The best staff money can buy

Let's call it the "Romneyshambleskis":

After Romney paid his respects to Poland's war dead and shook hands with a small gathering of the nation's military veterans, the GOP contender walked approximately 100 yards away from the memorial as he chatted with Warsaw's mayor.

As Romney made his way to his vehicle, reporters attempted to shout questions to the candidate. The former Massachusetts governor, who has answered only three questions from his traveling press corps during a week-long overseas trip, ignored the queries.

When members of the press tried to ask Romney about some of the mishaps on his trip, his traveling press secretary Rick Gorka verbally dressed down reporters.

Here's a transcript of the questions and Gorka's response:

CNN: "Governor Romney are you concerned about some of the mishaps of your trip?

NYT: "Governor Romney do you have a statement for the Palestinians?
Washington Post: "What about your gaffes?

NYT: "Governor Romney do you feel that your gaffes have overshadowed your foreign trip?"
CNN: "Governor Romney just a few questions sir, you haven't taken but three questions on this trip from the press!

Gorka: "Show some respect"

NYT: "We haven't had another chance to ask a question..."

Gorka: "Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."

Moments later, Gorka told Jonathan Martin, a reporter for Politico, to "shove it." About a half-hour later, the aide called reporters to apologize.
"KISS MY ASS. THIS IS A HOLY SITE" is now one of my favorite political quotes ever.

He could at least have had consideration for the confederate base and gone with "kiss my grits."

A thousand feet away from a war memorial and "is a holy site"? Considering what happened to it in World War II, most of Poland must be a holy site.

If I were a GOP "handler" I would also avoid talk of war and Europe, since it might eventually lead to more publicity for the fact that Romney received a deferment from the draft as a Mormon 'minister of religion' so he could bike around France trying to boost the income of his religious corporation.

Oh, I dunno, Turk. There were 8-plus long years of great political quotes from GW. Some of my favorites:

"Who cares what you think?" 7-4-01

"Okay, your ass is covered." 8-6-01

"He's irrelevant. I don't spend that much time thinking about him." 3-02

"God told me to smite Saddam. And I smote him." 5-03

How quickly we forget...but I understand your sentiment. This is DEFINITELY the political Quote of the Year, if not longer...

Very late posting this, but it came to me last night for some reason.

The brothers from Delta fraternity disturb the probation proceedings with slurs aimed at Dean Wormer. Frat president Hoover asks Boon to cool them out, so he does:

Hoover: Will you tell those assholes to shut up?

Boon: Hey! Shut up you assholes!

From the movie "Animal House". Pure gold.
