This guy is a remarkable improvement

Have been pleasantly surprised so far...I will certainly enjoy watching folks like Dolan and even further right-wing clerics have to prevaricate now.

Pope Francis, in the first extensive interview of his six-month-old papacy, said that the Roman Catholic church had grown “obsessed” with preaching about abortion, gay marriage and contraception, and that he has chosen not to speak of those issues despite recriminations from some critics.

In remarkably blunt language, Francis sought to set a new tone for the church, saying it should be a “home for all” and not a “small chapel” focused on doctrine, orthodoxy and a limited agenda of moral teachings.

Oh, who does this Francis guy think he is, anyway? Everybody knows that if you want the One True Holy Apostolic and Catholic pronouncement on anything, you have to consult with Bill Donohue of the Catholic League.

At least, he's the only person allowed to speak on the teevee machine for all Catholics everywhere.

The second coming of Anthony Quinn.

Let's pray that Stony is right in his hopeful reference to "Shoes of the Fisherman" and pray further that Pansy can learn to cut the Catholic Church a little slack.

hopeful? ... (unless you regard this) "...And his liberality has its limits: he speaks reverentially about the role of women in the Church but says he isn’t sold on what he calls “a kind of ‘female machismo,’” which seems to suggest women taking on roles filled by men—like his, maybe. " nyer
...and..
In his comments, Francis denounced today's "throw-away culture" that justifies disposing of lives, and said doctors in particular had been forced into situations where they are called to "not respect life."
"Every child that isn't born, but is unjustly condemned to be aborted, has the face of Jesus Christ, has the face of the Lord," he said. huffpo

Well, the Vatican is trying to figure out how Francis will die of unexpected causes in about six months.
