Dear Popesatzgruppen;

I could not help but notice that you went out of your way yesterday to come out...to come out and condemn same-sex unions as being anarchic "pseudo-matrimony"

I imagine that this is coming from somebody that has never been married? Have you looked at a lot at "marriage classic"? Believe me, an awful lot of those marriage flock on the anarchy, not so much do they thrive on the pseudo-married stuff, but it is there in abundance.

But what it all really comes down to for me, Meisterdad, are a couple things.

It seems that you are more than happy to get out there and condemn gays marrying, but you don't seem too anxious to get after the pederasts in your own house. In fact, you seem downright antagonistic toward those who say they were abused as children by priests.

When you were head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Vatican office responsible for investigating abuse claims you had a few things to say about those who claimed they were abused by priests. For example, in May 2001, you sent a confidential letter to every Catholic bishop reminding them of severe penalties to those who referred allegations of sexual abuse against priests to the secular authorities, like the police.

You've also done your utmost to protect Marcial Marciel, founder of the "Legion of Christ" who has had several individuals come forward and state that they were abused by Marciel. Maciel, was, as you know a particular favorite of yours having been a confidant of Pope John Paul II, who praised him as an 'efficacious guide to youth'. You yourself, took to the ever loving Christian act of slapping a reporter who dared to ask you about the status of the Maciel investigation. You also demonstrated your substantial moral authority when you stated, "One can't put on trial such a close friend of the Pope as Marcial Maciel".

Now, some folks thought that once you went from being John Paul II's enforcer to being Pope yourself, somehow you would improve. Sadly, those were foolish hopes:

The founder of an influential Roman Catholic order in Mexico will not face a church trial on longstanding allegations that he molested teenagers, a Vatican spokesman said on Saturday.

In December, the Vatican opened a full-scale investigation into the Rev. Marcial Maciel Degollado, the 85-year-old founder of the Legionaries of Christ and a prominent religious figure in Mexico. At least eight people came forward in the late 1990's to accuse him of abusing them between 1943 and the early 1960's.

But on Saturday, Father Ciro Benedittino, the spokesman, said that no charges would be brought against Father Maciel. He did not say why the investigation was ended.

Next, I do not know if there can be something that is more reprehensible than child sexual abuse, after all I am not the Pope, but I would guess that starting wars where thousands die for unjustified means is one of them.

I know that the Church has taken the position that the Iraq War was unjustified.

What I want to know is, why the Church seeminly speaks so little on this issue, in comparison to say, Gay Marriage?

Is not starting an unjustified war where tens of thousands die, a greater sin than two dudes or babes legally sharing their legal assets?

Is not this:

A more grievous sin than this?

Just some things I am pondering.
