The Hundred Year Whore

Once again, I'd like to thank the Bush Administration and the Congress for giving future Administrations (both Republican and Democratic) an excuse to deprive us of our civil liberties for fucking ever...because they are afraid of their own fucking shadows.

This is John McCain's line, but look for it to be trotted out with 100% certainty by a Republican President and oh, better than 50-50 by any random Democrat (explaining why I'm a Democrat with faint praise):

"I also firmly believe that the challenge of the 21st century is the struggle against radical Islamic extremism. It is a transcendent issue. It is hydra-headed. It will be with us for the rest of the century."

One-fucking century!

Look, I know that's false because I've seen the films and it's obvious that one-century ago humans were completely in sepia hues, walked incredibly fast and stiffly to to the accompaniment of calliope music, communicated in captions and got in a shit load of pie fights. Now we are in color, post captions on the internet and have quality porn. A century is a little broad doncha think?

I know the Democratic Leadership emphasizes the temporary nature of Alberto Gonzales being able to listen to my phone calls overseas (admittedly it's mostly crank calls to Tony Blair, but still...), but why should I have any faith they'll actually have courage in February?
