"Mah Legacy"

[Cross-Posted at Firedoglake]

Cue the Frank Sinatra:

President Bush has admitted to The Times that his gun-slinging rhetoric made the world believe that he was a “guy really anxious for war” in Iraq.

Gee, what could have given us that belief?

Minutes before President Bush's solemn announcement that the US military were in action against Iraq he vigorously pumped his fist and declared: "I feel good".

And furthermore:

[Bush] said that his aim now was to leave his successor a legacy of international diplomacy for tackling Iran.

Which is why we are hearing stories like this:

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert hinted after his meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush Wednesday that U.S. action against Iran is imminent. While he avoided saying anything clear and specific on the matter, Olmert did mention a “timetable” and said action would take place before Bush leaves the White House.

Seven months and 10 days left.
