Sarah Palin "actually" had the taxpayers of Alaska upgrade the Governor's "crib" in Juneau so she could install a tanning bed.

Whether the taxpayers had to actually pay for the bed is one question (though those per diem payments for staying home might have helped).

But better yet, surely skin-cancer survivor John McCain must be damned impressed at the wisdom of this purchase and activity.
