And let's leave Track, Bristol, Tungsten, Crowbar and Distributor Cap out of this.
The vetting of Palin and how John McCain picked her sounds eerily familiar, as McCain aides involved in the process say:
"We came out of it knowing all that we could know at the time,"
Which is a little like McCain's post-hoc justifications for whatever "preemptive" military incursion he is trying to justify.
What McCain is really going to need is a Condi Rice-like spokesman who can say "Nobody could have Anticipated" with conviction. I'm pretty sure Dan Senor's wife was telegraphing a strong signal about this to the campaign yesterday. She really needs to get him out of the house.
I believe that Palin is scheduled to speak on Wednesday night, though maybe they'll move that up. Whatever the situation, she better manage to make the speech of her life.
Maybe she should talk about her little dog "Checkers" and her husband's "sensible" Republican tricked-out snowmobile?
No pressure though.
