Is Smaller always Better?

It depends.

The trend among commentators toward discussion of restructuring the automakers is assuming smaller is better.  However, what part of the company is getting smaller?  Production?  Size of cars?  Stock?

What needs to be shrunk is the over-reliance on excessive executives, the top of the company not the workers.  CEOs, CFOs, and all the acronyms in between are consistently overpaid and the oft overlooked over-perked.

Perhaps now we are finally seeing the end of the corporate perks such as the unnecessary corporate jet, but what is needed is more accountability AND balanced pay and compensation.  Hopefully we can examine the imbalanced nature of pay expectations in banking, automobile manufacture, and other industries.
