Your Democratic Minnesota Senator

Al Franken's gotten a lot of well-deserved praise with his ability to make the shouters take part in a respectful conversation. But as a Minnesotan entering his mid-40s this Al Franken story told by another Minnesota icon of my youth, Fran Tarkenton made me smile:

I did "Saturday Night Live" back in the days when John Belushi was there and Bill Murray was there and the guy who wrote all my scripts that night was your U.S. Senator from Minnesota, Al Franken. I gave Al my No. 10 jersey. About 10 years ago, I was in LaGuardia Airport and saw Franken. He had my No. 10 jersey on.
