Atta J. Turk's marginally trust NFL picks

Well another 4 and 2 week means that I sit at 46 and 26 for the year. Not bad, good thing it's worth so much money.

First, I have to say I watched many of the college games yesterday and especially in particular to Texas barely beating Nebraska, I have to say, there is no way in hell the Longhorns should get into a national championship game over TCU, Cincy or Boise St. Based on what I've seen the last few weeks, those three smaller, less traditional powers, are about to get a royal fucking screwjob so the big boys can keep their monopoly.

Here's what is going to happen when Alabama meets Texas. Alabama will score 40 plus -- Texas, maybe 14. It will be a blood bath. It sucks, and the little guys are going to be screwed.

And now on to the place where they actually settle things on the field.

Eagles at Falcons. This is purported the Michael Vick coming home game. But nobody seems to give a shit. It's amazing what being convicted of a felony, seeing your prime years spent in jail followed by being virtually invisible on your return just doesn't have the same magnitude as a first ballot hall-of-famer leading his new team against the team he played 16 great years with. I predict Vick will spend his usual rhythm killing 2-yard run while McNabb stands on the sideline thinking WTF? Andy Reid, ladies and gentlemen, alleged genius. In spite of it all, the perpetually underappreciated McNabb leads the Eagles to the win.

Rams at Bears. I know they were playing a high quality opponent last week in the Vikings, but egads the Bears stink on ice don't they? Awesome trade for Cutler, how about you give him some receivers or an offensive line that isn't composed of has beens and never wases? Oh that's okay, next year you can draft better players -- oops, no you can't you have no draft choices. GENIUS! Here's a prediction. In 2010, the Lions will have a better record than the Bears. Not that I'm mad, I don't have many chances to use "egads' in a sentence, but thanks to the Bears, I can. But today at least, they play the even more awful Rams. Here's your comparison. The Vikings beat the Bears by 26, the Rams by 28. Take the Bears, therefore, in a squeaker

Titans at Colts: This is the "trendy" upset pick of the week. The Titans have now won 5 in a row, Vince Young is the comeback player flavor of the month, Chris Johnson is going frickin' wild. The Colts have had to come from behind 5 straight times in the 4th quarter, something no one other than they have other pulled off successfully. Well, I predict that won't happen again this week. Because they won't be behind. The Colts go to 12 and 0.

Saints at Redskins
. I picked against the Saints last week and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Of course, I'm an idiot. That was one hell of a performance. Wow. It sure seems like this year there are 3 really, really good teams in the NFL - the Colts, the Saints and the Vikings, a handful of decent teams, and a shitload of massive suck. The Redskins are the cream of the suck. Decent defense, shitty offense. Sort of the Nebraska Cornhuskers of the NFL. Well, the Saints aren't Texas. It'll be respectable and it's a short week. The Saints will get a scare for a while, but they'll win.

Cowboys at Giants. This is a tough one. The Cowboys have a good record at 8 and 3, but it all seems rather illusory. They scored 24 against the Raiders, but the Raiders are awful. Before that they have a grand total of 14 points in two games against the Packers and Redskins. I have no faith in them whatsoever. Meanwhile, I have no reason to think the Giants are awesome, they've lost 5 of 6 and to hear the New York media describe it, Eli Manning has lost a foot and had it replaced with a candy-cane peg. But I really have no faith in the Cowboys -- plus if the Cowboys lose, the NFC East becomes a gigantic messy free-for-all. BRING ON THE CHAOS, take the Giants.

Vikings at Cardinals. Will Warner play or won't he? I'm pretty sure he will, but if it's Matt Leinert I'm going to feel a lot more confident picking the Vikings. The Vikings are playing so well right now, I feel confident they are going deeper into the playoffs than they have of late this year, before they crush my spirits by choking late. Just like the good ol' days. No matter who starts, I'm taking the Vikings.
