- David Brooks
- Thomas Friedman
- Maureen Dowd
- Andrew Ross Sorkin
- Adam Nagourney
- Jeff Zeleny
- The odious Styles section
- Escapes
- The ever-aspirational real estate section
- Hand-wringing Metro articles about gentrification (which always come down on the side of advocating for more of it)
- Withholding important stories (e.g., about violations of Americans' civil liberties) at the request of the Republican party
- Fake trend stories prompted by writers' late-night conversations with their sorority sisters
- He Said/She Said framing
- Doctoring photographs to fit a writer's meme (h/t watertiger)
Things I will miss when the NYT goes back behind a firewall:
- Paul Krugman (except that enterprising folks will post all his columns within minutes of them going up on the Times site, so I won't miss him after all)
- Mark Bittman (except that he collects his recipes in regularly released cookbooks, so I won't miss him, either)
