I'd say this is beyond the pale

But anybody who has ever seen Tom Shales would know it literally is not beyond "the pale".

To tread ground maybe I shouldn't (and to trod the ground he's already tilled), let me suggest that maybe he ate Fred Hiatt?

Most likely he hit on her once and she blew him off, or perhaps just vomited. Anyway it obviously rankles.

Shales, as with so many public figures today, has a profound blind spot when it comes to Israel, which is what these complaints concerning Amanpour are all about.

There's no question that logic and factual accuracy go out the window whenever one has such a blind spot. Shales may or may not realize it, but, most people recognize it for what it is.

[Coincidentally, IFC aired the six-part Monty Python documentary yesterday.]
