The Shrugged Shoulders

Funny how the the White House, which ran a rather impeccable election campaign in 2008 seems to not really even care, or shrugs its collective shoulders, over the 2010 election.

Looking at the latest Gallup latest ballot polling there appears to be a point where the generic numbers really changed in favor of the Republicans. Somewhere around mid-August. Wonder what happened then?

Oh, yeah...
Speaking publicly for the first time since he disparaged the "professional left," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said he stands by his comments, has no plans to resign and that he fully expects progressive voters to go to the polls in 2010.

And how is "Beltway Bob" doing on the prediction front?
The newest Gallup numbers show Republicans with a staggering 25% advantage in voter enthusiasm.

I'm sure there is some eleventy-dimensional chess move sure to come. For example, Gibbs will soon announce that Obama has cut the budget deficit by having the Government sign an endorsement deal with Purina Brands. Ladies and Gentlemen, say hello to the "Friskies Debt Commission".

Time to explore the Four Worlds of Friskies Dry? Did it have to be dry? I don't want dry, I'd rather die.

Why isn't the White House worried about the upcoming elections? The answer is obvious. They will still have *their* jobs, no matter who wins.

I don't think they care much who wins in Nov. In fact, having a Republican controlled congress would take the pressure off Obama to do anything at all. Well, except to sign whatever loathesome legislation the Republicans come up with. Using his veto power would be going against the will of the people, doncha know.

Enthusiasm rating 25% higher?
What was the question again? vox

I have zero enthusiasm for the upcoming election, but I'm voting just the same. As shitty as things are right now, and as shitty as my choice in November sill be, the GOP is absolutely fucking unhinged.

well, if teabagger loons manage to get a hold of the house, obama's DLC advisors wont have the the time or the luxury to badmouth the progressive base with disdain. they'll soon find out who the real enemy is.

and as predicted, even the wallstreet allies this administration has bent over backwards and sold their souls to accommodate have abandoned them.

I'd only vote republican if there was a loaded gun pointed at my head, but damn! the amount of suck facing me in the voting booth come November is strong. Jerry Brown? Again? Sure, Meg Whitman is all over my radio saying that we'll pay for new schools and teachers by....getting rid of the bureaucrats in Sacramento. Even my center-right boss laughed at that one.

I might show some enthusiasm if there was the opportunity to repeal Prop 13 and get rid of the 2/3 majority rule but monkey's will fly out of Rahm Emanuel's bung hole before that happens.
