A Query

Why does just about every conservative I know WANT to be Churchill, or proclaim themselves Churchill?

You'd think they'd pick Lincoln wouldn't you? I mean Lincoln was, you know an American and importantly, you'd think, a REPUBLICAN!!!

But back to Churchill. Churchill had several admirable qualities, but it should be added he had many considerable flaws as well.

Churchill was primarily right about ONE THING (granted a very BIG thing) his whole career. He was right about the rise of the Nazis.

But he was wrong about virtually every other major social issue in the UK during his lifetime:

(1) Women's suffrage;
(2) Racial matters;
(3) India;
(4) Gallipoli and all manner of other flightly military plans;
(5) Edward VII;
(6) Ireland;
(7) The balance of British Imperialism;
(8) Socialized Medicine;
(9) Trade Unionism

Numerous other matters where old fuddy-duddism met up with modernity.

In comparison Lincoln and Washington were Ted Williams.
