Amen

David Sirota, Jane Hamsher and Glenn Greenwald are all correct on the inconsistencies of Olbermann's statement and GE & NewsCorps role in trying to smother or smooth over shit all in the name of controlling the news. No matter how much you may like or approve of many of the very good things Olbermann has done, papering over this because you like him, ignores the real problem.

Multi-national conglomerates own ABC, CBS, and NBC. A right-wing carnival Barker owns FoxNews.

Each and everyone of them requires that their news divisions operate at a profit. News is no longer considered a loss-leader as it was in the days of Murrow, Cronkite and Huntley.

And what your broadcast medium tells you has been affected thereby.

"Harvest of Shame" for example would NEVER be allowed on the air today, instead we get Lou Dobbs immigrant bashing. No one would be allowed to challenge McCarthy, except in a pre-ordained "he said-she said" fashion.
