With LePage, you have to really parse his words. As he told the BDN, he did not use the word "execute." According to the quotation in the book, he said, "They're talking about hanging them."
Part of LePage's problem is that the media has this annoying tendency to quote what FatAss SAYS, rather than what he wants us to think he said. It was the same thing with his now-infamous "Social Security is welfare" quote. What he said, verbatim, is "“It doesn’t matter what liberals call these payments, it is welfare, pure and simple." What he wants us to THINK he said is "Social Security is welfare."
