Lexington, Kentucky

You guys know everything.

What's an interesting neighborhood in Lexington, Kentucky? I don't want to stay in the business district, if that's possible. What is the Soho or Tribeca or Nolita of Lexington?

I'll take hotel and restaurant (vegetarian or otherwise) recommendations if you them, too.

Thanks for your assistance.

Well I can help you there, I lived in Lexington for two years! Although it was in 1985-86, and I suspect some of the places I used to go aren't there anymore. And I was pretty much drunk the entire time I was there (hey, it was the 80's!) so my memory's a bit fuzzy. I do remember this one place right near UK called Beso Del Sol that had excellent veggie-friendly Mexican food. Also, I remember lots and lots of really divey bars.

True Lexington story: while I lived there, the NCAA basketball tournament came to town. There were lots of homeless folks on the streets at that time, and the city fathers were worried that they would give people a bad impression. So, they were all designated as "goodwill ambassadors" and given brand new UK sweatsuits. People probably wondered why so many UK fans were screaming at clouds and peeing in the middle of the street. No, wait, it was the NCAA tournament, so probably no one even noticed.

Hi Res!

Having lived there for many years, I can confidently say...ha, ha, hee, ha.....[wipes tears]. Soho. In Lexington. Nah.

The only vegetarian restaurant I can think of "Alfalfa's" on Main Street. If you like your vegetarian fare on the bland side, you'll love it!
