I think this is wishful thinking on Gawkers/Politico's part. Some California Republicans can be as crazy as the craziest Alabama Republican, but there are large swaths of sober (and dare I say) reasonable GOPers in California. I'd have to see some polling. Still, it doesn't sound like the other GOPer in the race is doing much to win the race, and she may win on strength of name recognition and an energized tea-bagging crowd. I'll be watching!
